Support to report

If you’re thinking about reporting to the police

If you’re thinking about reporting what’s happened to you to the police, you can talk confidentially to one of our specially trained members of staff, who can give you the support and information you need to make the decision that feels best for you.

If this is the situation you’re in, call us on 01226 320140 to ask for this support.

If you are a professional or worker from another agency wanting to refer someone to this service, please see our How to Make a Referral page.

If you’ve already reported to the police

If and when you do decide to report what’s happened to the police (whether you’ve reported with our support or before you made contact with us), we can support you throughout the criminal justice process and beyond.

This means making sure you’re kept up to date with what’s happening with your case, supporting you with your practical needs – like issues with your job or employer, medical appointments and so on – and supporting you emotionally.

The specialist workers who provide this service are called Independent Sexual Violence Advocates – or ISVAs.

Our ISVAs are independent. They will work with other organisations and professionals – including the police, courts, Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), witness service, health services and others – but they work for you, and what you need and want is their number one priority.

If you would like this kind of support, you can call us on 01226 320140 to refer yourself to this service.
If you are a professional or worker from another agency wanting to refer someone to this service, please see our How to Make a Referral page.

Advocacy support for children

BSARCS also has a specialist ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Advocate) service for children, aged from 0 up to 17.

If you’re the parent or carer of a child who you think might benefit from this service, you can call us on 01226 320140 to talk about referring them.

If you are a professional or worker from another agency wanting to refer someone to this service, please see our How to Make a Referral page.
