I have questions about children’s therapy? What can I ask?

It’s completely understandable to have questions about your child’s therapy. You can ask their therapist about the therapy process, what to expect, how you can support your child at home, and any concerns you may have about their wellbeing.

Your child’s therapist will explain what information they are able to share with you. This will depend on your child’s age, understanding and individual circumstances, as well as their right to privacy and confidentiality.

Therapy is a safe space for children and young people to talk openly, so therapists may not be able to share everything your child discusses in sessions. However, if there are concerns about your child’s safety or wellbeing, the therapist will explain what action needs to be taken and, where possible, involve you in this.

If you have questions or concerns, please speak directly with your child’s therapist or the member of the team supporting them. We are happy to help you understand the therapy process and how you can support your child.
