Understanding and Responding to Family Sexual Abuse
Join us for an important and informative webinar as part of Barnsley’s Week of Events and Action on Sexual Harm. This session is delivered by Ruth, one of our experienced BSARCS trainers, and is designed for anyone working or volunteering in Barnsley who wants to enhance their knowledge and skills in responding to sexual abuse within families.
Sexual harm is a sensitive and often complex issue, and it can be challenging to know how best to support children, young people, and families affected by it. This webinar will provide practical guidance, helping you to:
Recognise the signs of sexual abuse within family contexts
Support sensitive conversations with children and young people
Understand referral pathways and when to seek additional help
Build confidence in your role to respond safely and effectively
In addition to the training, the session will include an interactive discussion, giving you the opportunity to:
Share your experiences and challenges
Identify gaps in Barnsley’s current support services
Highlight the resources or training that would help you feel more confident in your work
We will also provide links to relevant training and resources from BSARCS and Barnsley Council, so you can continue developing your knowledge beyond the session.
This session is suitable for anyone working or volunteering with children, young people, or families in Barnsley who wants to develop their understanding and confidence in addressing sexual harm. Whether you are a teacher, youth worker, health professional, or support volunteer, this webinar will equip you with practical knowledge and guidance to make a positive difference.
