Engaging With Hard to Reach Survivors of Sexual Harm

December 3, 2024 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Free

Hard-to-reach implies that engagement is lacking because survivors don’t want to be reached. However, in most cases, these communities can be hard to engage because a level of trust and representation hasn’t been built between the services offered, and the communities we should be supporting. In this webinar from BSARCS, we will explore how professionals must adapt our support to ensure we are offering equitable support and service to those in society that are often invisible or underrepresented. Looking at understanding the needs of minority groups who may find it harder to access services, such as people with disabilities, people from non-white ethnic backgrounds, the elderly, and those on lower incomes.

You will learn:

  • Why diverse and intersecting needs make it difficult for us to engage and reach out to those who are unrepresented, part of a hidden population or rarely heard from within society.
  • What can we do to make it easier to engage with our services.
  • Recognising the importance of developing meaningful and authentic relationships to be able to ask the right questions.
