Dealing with Disclosures of Sexual Abuse

December 2, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

Free

90% of sexual abuse incidents are not reported to the police.  There is a good possibility that in your day to day work, building relationships with clients, you may hear a disclosure of sexual abuse.  This short introductory online training workshop is for anyone who may hear a disclosure of rape, previous sexual abuse or current sexual harm from someone they are supporting or working with.

This training workshop is suitable for those working with people aged 16 years or over and it is designed to give a practical overview of how to respond appropriately.

This interactive online training workshop will cover:

  • Why individuals find it difficult to speak about sexual abuse
  • Hearing a disclosure for the first time
  • Best practice- How to effectively respond to disclosure
  • Context of the disclosure
  • What do we mean by first disclosure?
  • Signposting & referral
  • Self care after hearing a disclosure

This is an interactive online training workshop, and will be hosted via zoom.

Please note all participants will be initially muted when joining the zoom meeting.
