Adult Counselling & Children’s Support

Counselling

Our counselling service is for adults (people aged 18 and over) who live in the Barnsley area.

Counselling offers you the chance to think and talk about your feelings confidentially, with a qualified professional who won’t judge you or tell you what to do.

Counselling appointments take place in our counselling rooms, usually at the same time each week, and last around 50 minutes.

All BSARCS counsellors have completed specialist training in sexual violence so they can better understand what you’re going through and support you appropriately.

If you think counselling might be right for you, you can call us on 01226 320140 or us the secure form below to refer yourself to this service. Please leave/email us your name, contact number and that you would like to make a referral and we will call you back during office hours. Remember to check your Junk/Spam folders for a response from one of the team.

Adult Self Referral Form

We understand that reaching out can be hard. The questions we ask on referral are all to make sure we get you the right support.

If you are a professional wanting to make a referral to our services please see our How to make a referral page.

Children’s support services

Our children’s specialist therapeutic service is two-fold and comprises our Therapeutic Wellbeing Service and Therapy.
We recognise that children and young people are not always immediately ready or in a stable enough environment to access therapy and process their trauma. Therefore, we offer therapeutic wellbeing support to those children and young people who’re unable to access specialist therapy at the time they’re referred.

We will offer therapy to those children, who’re in a position to process their trauma.

Our children’s service, works systemically so parents/carers and key professionals need to be prepared to become involved with the intervention to support the child/young person’s healing process.

The support we offer includes; 1:1 therapeutic wellbeing support, group work, therapy, 1:1 parenting support, trauma informed parenting group and support to key professionals.

We accept referrals from; professionals, parents, carers, relatives and young people who wish to self-refer. You don’t need to ask for specifically wellbeing support, therapy or group work as we understand each child/young person is different, we carefully screen each referral to identify which service best meets the child/young person’s needs.

If you are a professional please use the referral form below. If you are a parent or carer and would prefer to speak to us please call 01226 320140.
