Working With Us - information for service providers
We welcome the opportunity to work with other agencies in order to better support Barnsley residents and we already receive referrals from the Police, NHS, GP's, Social Services and many other organisations.
If you are supporting someone who has been sexually assaulted, recently or in the past, you can refer them directly to us by telephoning 01226 320140 or indirectly by letting them know about our service.
At BSARCS we work closely with other service providers to raise awareness of signs of sexual violence and also to dispel myths and misconceptions that surround it. Not all victims of sexual violence will display obvious behaviours and it is important that other service providers are able to seek appropriate advice and information.
If you suspect that someone has been the victim of sexual violence but you are unsure of how to approach the matter please contact BSARCS for advice.
From May 2016, BSARCS will be accepting referrals for Children’s Therapy.
The referral criteria for our Children’s Therapy service is as follows:
The child/young person (between 0-18 years) who is resident in Barnsley, who has experienced sexual abuse.
The abuse has been reported and/or investigated by the police/social care and where any criminal proceedings have concluded.
The child needs to be in a safe and stable environment and to have given consent for this referral. (For younger children the parents’ consent is required)
Referrals can be made by making initial contact with BSARCS 01226 320140 A referral form will then be sent out for completion if deemed appropriate.
If you have any questions around this process or unsure if the referral is appropriate please contact Paula Paynter, Clinical Lead or any member of the Children’s Therapy Team
We also provide talks, presentations and training to other agencies, professionals and schools. If you're interested in this or would like to know more, please contact our office.
