Well Being Support Advocate (Full time, 37 hours per week)

Salary £21,745 – £23,166

Temporary Contract (2 years, continuation subject to further funding)

BSARCS requires an experienced and enthusiastic woman to provide a high quality advocacy and support service for clients who have experienced sexual abuse or rape.  You will enable clients to gain greater control over their lives and help to improve their sense of wellbeing.  Within safeguarding guidelines you will advocate in the best interest of the client.

Experience of direct work with vulnerable adults is essential.  Experience of counselling, advocacy, social work, support work or a similar field is desirable. 

BSARCS’ offices are located in Barnsley town centre, less than five minutes away from the transport interchange.  We are a forward thinking, dynamic and supportive employer offering benefits including 5 weeks’ annual leave plus bank holidays and pension contributions.

Therapists for Children & Young People

Salary £25,694 - £27,394 (Pro rata) (Hours available from 8 – 24 per week, subject to applicant’s choice)

Barnsley Sexual Abuse & Rape Crisis Services is looking for enthusiastic and committed staff to join its expanding specialist trauma focussed team.  The current team offers drama, art, play, EMDR and psychodynamic therapies from very well equipped, accessible children’s therapy rooms. 

The team are looking forward to welcoming new members who may bring similar or new disciplines.  Suitable qualifications and experience of working therapeutically with children and young people is essential and a knowledge of trauma focussed therapy would be highly desirable.

Working days available are Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays to reflect the needs of the service and will be agreed on appointment.   Due to the nature of this work, the post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.  The post is restricted to female applicants (Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9: Part 1 ((1a).

Volunteer Trustees 

BSARCS is a well-established Barnsley charity which offers confidential services to people who have experienced rape or sexual abuse at any point during their lives. Services include: therapy, counselling, group work, a text and email helpline, and support through the criminal justice system.

We are looking for women to join our trustee board who have experience and knowledge of issues particularly affecting women or children.

A background in social services, therapeutic work, finance or accountancy, bid writing or law would be advantageous.

Trustee training will be provided on acceptance to the post. If you feel you could contribute approximately 4 - 6 hours per month with some evenings, please send your CV or any questions to info@bsarcs.org.  Reasonable expenses will be paid.

A background in finance is essential. The post holder should have a strong knowledge of bookkeeping and financial management and possess good financial analysis skills.
